Esplanade, the Second Trip
I have mentioned at my last Esplanade post that I am going to watch another concert, and here it is.
It was a rainy day.
I have to walk under the rain to the nearest bus stop.
This is a sign before the bus stop. I wondered, how much time do I need to get to Esplanade? Why wasn't Esplanade listed there?
After long time of travelling. I reached this area.
Before I reached Esplanade, I went to Bread History to buy my dinner. And yes, I was having just bread for my dinner. No choice, I am not like any rich guy that can afford to eat at some nice restaurant around City Hall area. I went to HMV, to my very disappointed mood that I can't find John Adorney's CD except the one that I have bought.
Esplanade has changed the artwork in the main foyer area. These are by NUS High School students. I was thinking, what is the link between NUS and NUS High School.
Then I went out to eat my dinner. I found a strange looking thing on top of the "durian" structure. Go click on the photo and have a look. You will get what I mean. I don't know if it is used to be there, but I didn't notice it before.
Then I decided to go up. There was this wall painting thing inside. Pardon me, I can't even accept it as an art painting.
And this is at the roof of Esplanade. Another angle of viewing "durian" make it looked different. OK, maybe just a bit.
Then the view of CBD area along with the durian.
Then the view to bottom. Notice the hands that is playing piano, because at that time I really heard someone playing piano, then it created an illusion to me that the sound came from the picture. What a strange thought.
Yet another angle.
Can anyone tell me the name of this building. I think it is very famous, but sorry, I am not Singaporean.
And this is a flower I found at the rooftop. Using the tall building as background is something that I found very artistic.
OK, no comment for this one. Know it or not, not my business. In fact, I don't know about it.
And then I found this strange looking thing. What is it used for? To let people peep inside?
Yet yet another angle. I was thinking, "What the heck are the camera doing there? For spying on the river, to trace any instruder?"
From the gap between two durian, I found a scene like this. Is it the City Hall building?
Then I took this photo randomly. Maybe I just wanted the Esplanade logo.
Before the concert started, there was a crowd outside.
And then I went inside Esplanade Concert Hall, and the concert started. And sorry, no photography is allowed inside. So, don't come and ask me for photo which I took inside (No, I haven't taken any).
It was a good show in total. But...
Actually I can't really enjoy the show. There were a lot of "percussion effects" here and there, and they are really various in colour, all angle, all direction, and is really full surround standard. I keep hearing sounds like dropping things, smashing on something and some really strange and weird sounds. Even distracting was the sound of watch. GOD DAMMIT, IF YOU HAVE A WATCH THAT SOUNDS LIKE CLOCK, PLEASE DON'T WEAR IT TO GO FOR A CONCERT!!!
And I have found some phenomena that I called "coughing effect". That is, if one person cough in the hall, then you will have the chance to enjoy a total of coughs in about 1 minute time, and it is truly the best surround effect I have ever heard. Especially when the concert goes into a very quite moment, then you will just hear nothing but coughs.
Well, at the second half, many have left (and I don't know why). So the "percussion effect" and "cough effect" has been reduced dramatically. That's the moment that I finally able to get into the music and enjoy along with the musician. Dammit, I hate those fucking noise makers.
A crowd in the MRT station. This was taken in a very no-one-will-notice-me way. Waited for 7 minute, and the crowd just expanded without limit. If there was any limit, it was bounded by the time by which the train arrives.
After a long long walk, I have reached here. Somewhere very near my room.
What's next? This one:
Invited by Xinhui, I am going to watch this chamber music concert at Victoria Concert Hall, another venue that I am looking forward to go to.
And this is some kind of ticket holder that sistic gave me when I bought the tickets. So, I am paying extra $1 for this ticket holder thing. Dammit, I want me $1 back!
