Hecht & Tiu duo pianists
Out of everything, this is something I definitely need to write down.
Yup, I went to watch concert at YST this Tuesday, 19 Feb. A piano concert that features two of the piano professors in YST, Thomas Hecht and Albert Tiu, who I think can make music alive.
There are some reasons that I must write down something about this concert. The most important being that I didn't manage to get a programme sheet of the concert, which is the first time for me in YST.
They were playing three songs. Two of them were Singapore Première. Maybe that's why it was an over-full-house and the concert was delayed by 15 minutes simply because audience cannot find seats.
The song from Copland was in fact very interesting. A lot of sweet melodies, and keep changing. Definitely a nice piece.
For the third movement of Debussy, which was a Singapore première, there was a female choir by students from YST. Once they started singing, I was severely distracted, and started thinking if we managed to get a female choir for Planet Earth. It just felt so good. And once audience get distracted by the choir, hopefully my stress will be lessen. And now can stop dreaming.
The third piece from Rachmaninov was actually the piece I really enjoyed. Somehow, when the audience decreased by a lot, suddenly the atmosphere became very enjoyable. Like I said, they really can drag you deep into their music world, and make you up and down by the notes.
Truly a wonderful concert for me.
edited: I forgot to mention about the encore. The audience actually asked for three encores. The first time they played a proper encore piece (as in planned). The second time, they played something like scale study. It's really amazing when you see two pianist playing the same difficult thing in unison, at a super fast speed. When the audience rejected to go home and ask for the third encore, they just played a chord plus a note. Super funny.
