Beautiful Sunday
Yesterday was a very beautiful Sunday for me.
Afternoon, I went to Dhoby Ghaut to meet my project mates. We are supposed to discuss about our project, which is to take a video. We settled down at Long John Silver at Mc Donald's House outside Plaza Singapura.
I was there at 11.30am, and the discussion started at 12.30pm and ended at 4.30pm. We have discuss a lot of things, from almost nothing to almost everything. This really made me felt satisfied.
After the discussion, I went for a walk at Plaza Singapura. After walking for 30 minutes there, I went to City Hall. I reached at City Hall around 5.30pm, and just waited there, until I saw Lifei and Zheguang. Zheguang was holding a box of donuts from Donut Factory. Daniel didn't give us any more information, so we blindly waited there. Then we say Khee Nguen, Crystal, a girl playing oboe in NUSSO, and after that Joanna. Khee Nguen said that Daniel and the others were at Marina Square already, so we started to walk there. On our half way only Daniel called me, telling us where to go. You see, good friend is like this, call only at the most important moment. And I was in doubt, if I never asked him for dinner details, maybe he will not even tell me.
So our dinner was at Cabava (or something like that), selling chicken rice (western style). Our dessert was of course donuts from Zheguang, and Daniel took away half of my "reserved" donut. Again, this is what we called "good friend".
Then we headed to Esplanade. Our seats were at Circle 3, that means the farthest away from stage. But I like the sound at Circle 3 more than stalls, somehow it will become more clarity, and sounds from audience will be reduced to a very low level. I still remember the "coughing effect" at that day I was sitting at stall, full 360 degree surround effect, that totally killed the solos of the performer.
The performance was very good, of course. Mr Tan didn't look as open as when he conducted us, maybe because of "professionality"? So the performance, for me, was a bit duller than our own concert, of course in term of tonality and techniques and musicality was much more better.
Saw some familiar faces on the stage. And after the concert, I only knew that our bassoonist, the girl who taught me bassoon was also there. I know her name now, Woan Rong, from the programme booklet.
The Boston Brass was fantastic. Their tones are like no others, so special and superb. Edna said that their musics are only for entertaining purpose, not deep enough for others to think about, so they are so popular. For me, of course I won't care so much, because I am not brass player, at least not "full-time" brass player. But I was really inspired by the tubist, so I beg Daniel to let me play the Eb tuba, which no one knows how to play.
After the concert, when I walked down, a lady requested us to go down by the escalator, but I ignored her, because wanted to go have autographs from the Boston Brass. Luckily I walked down, because those who took the escalator didn't have chance for taking autograph.
So, be jealous please.
So we went back. While waiting for bus to go back PGP, Daniel asked to think a name for his tuba ensemble. The first name I though was "Baseline". Daniel didn't like this name much, so I have to think more. Then I decided to choose the easiest way, to split the TUBA word. So, finally, I got this name, "The Ultimate Bass Adagio". The "Adagio" came in when I cannot think for the "A", so I just randomly took any music terms that start with "A", and it happened that the song they are playing is "Adagio". Daniel was so happy that he sms-ed his members straight away, and his members were also very happy with this name.
Then I was thinking, "Yeah, finally can improve relationship with the tuba section!", which made me the third satisfying thing for day.
