Meals
The first dinner in Italy. Unfortunately, I didn't take the lunch, which was pasta, ham and beef (manzo), salad and cheese (formaggio).
Italian dumpling. Inside was some combination of meats and vegetables.
Ham together with melon. Strange kind of eating.
The second day, after rehearsal (the only rehearsal in Italy), we went to a canteen at another side of Besana for lunch.
Everyone had a set like this. Most of us can't finish, it's too many.
Day two night, we had Italian rice (risoto) with green pea soup. Sounds a bit weird, but it really tasted good.
The third day, we had lunch at a villa at Besana.
My plate.
Some desserts.
The dessert table.
Fruit basket. Peach (pesca) and apricot (albicocca) are so cheap in Italy that they can eat as many as they want every meal.
After the meal, some went to the Band of Festival rehearsal, and others went to have a coffee, which was treated by the coffee shop owner.
Their coffee, is super-strong espresso. Can't even drink without adding sugar for me.
That night, we had concert at Medolago. We had dinner there, but not the place we having concert. That was a very full dinner, we had spaghetti, meats and then fries and turkey.
Beef, ham and salame all in one plate.
The forth day, we had dinner at home.
Cooking pasta. The left bowl is the pasta, the middle is the ham flavour, and right is the olive flavour.
Grilling chicken.
The pasta with ham.
Italian cucumber. Tasted a bit different.
Carrots.
We had red wine almost every meal.
The grilled chicken.
Don't know what is this, but I didn't dare to eat.
Chicken with vegetables. Very healthy kind of western food.
That night, we had pizzas. Will post in another post (maybe you know why).
The fifth day.
Saw this at the morning. Have no idea of what this is.
Lasagne.
Veal (I suppose).
Fifth night, we went to Milano. Having dinner there for 5 euro per person, because of the large group, with free flow of food and a cup of cocktail. Actually we searched for a place to eat for more than half and hour, because not many shops can fit in our size of people. Didn't manage to take the cocktail, because my camera just ran out of battery.
The sixth day, we went to Milano again. Our lunch was pocket lunch, so we just brought the food that our host family prepared for us. Mine was some ham plus bread plus fruits.
For dinner, we ate at home.
Dumpling again, but this is not a same kind. This is with mainly meat inside, while the previous one is mainly with vegetables.
Grilled chicken again.
Day seventh, we had the most special lunch, with rabbit meats. Though it sounds cruel, I have to say that rabbit taste quite nice. Xianwei had a bad time though, because he had a rabbit in his house, so looking at the rabbit meats reminded him of his rabbit.
Rabbit meats!
Fries.
That night, pizza again.
Day eighth, we went to Lake Como, a very nice scenery place. Had pocket lunch, which was still the same, beef plus ham plus bread plus fruits.
That night, we had spaghetti finally, which was the best spaghetti ever in my life. And my last proper meal with the host family.
Don't be fooled by the ordinary look. This was the best spaghetti on earth!
And some kind of strange meat. Don't know what is it, and after the incident of rabbit, we preferred not to know about it.
Oh, and I forgot to mention about the breakfasts. The breakfasts were simple and repetitive, breads with different flavours and a cup of tea.
Meals after leaving the host family were simply disappointing.
At Venezia, I had pizza for lunch and our dinner was at a highway shop which was selling food also, called Autogrill.
At Firenze, we (the extending group) seperated with the others around evening. So, we had to depend on our own for foods.
My lunch. Expensive, and not really tasty, especially if compared to my host's cooking.
Dinner, we had fast food, chicken drumstick with fries. They said the chicken had the feeling of Singapore.
Breakfast at hostel, omelette.
Lunch, pizza.
Dinner. Can be considered the best meal in Firenze.
Also the dinner. Beef.
Then we went to Roma. For lunch, I had pizza. Why always pizza? Simply because pizza was the cheapest kind of food. For dinner, we went back hostel for a pasta party (free pasta). They said it's not good. I think was ok, maybe because I was too hungry.
Breakfast. Cereal with breads with cream.
We went to Vatican City. Had a proper lunch there (with spaghetti and some vegetables). Our dinner was Kebab, which they said very nice, and they also cooked some noodles and food.
The next day, can't remember what is the lunch. I think is pizza again, because cheap life just accompanied by pizzas.
So that night, I strongly suggested to Qicai, Mingwei and PK that we should go and eat a good meal. So we went.
Spaghetti with a salad. Although not as tasty as my host's cooking, I felt so satisfied, after those terrifying pizzas I had eaten.
Our last destination was Stockholm, Sweden. Sweden Krona (their currency) was quite small, so everything looked very expensive. A proper meal in Stockholm costed about SEK60~100.
The first lunch at Stockholm, we were not used to those super-expensive looking meals. So, in the end we ate some sausages in 7-11, which apparently was the cheapest.
That night, we had separate dinners. I had Thai food, which was quite cheap, if compared to other kind of meals.
The hostel wasn't providing any free breakfast, so we had to seek for our own breakfast. I just ate some biscuit which was brought from Singapore.
For lunch, we had kebab. I think it can be considered cheap, because of the super-big serving. We almost can't finish our meal, and felt challenged when a boy outside was eating a plate that looked bigger than ours. He can finish his meal easily, we can't. Yes, because of their weather, they surely eat a lot.
That night, we went Glend-Miller's Cafe.
